With UMass Boston's School for the Environment, the Center for Governance and Sustainability was a major driver behind the $3.1M IGERT grant (Integrative Graduate Education and Research Traineeship) from the National Science Foundation for its transdisciplinary, transnational program, " Coasts and Communities." The program provided fellowships to students from the Global Governance and Human Security, Environmental Science, Environmental Biology, and Environmental Business departments to cross-train them in the other disciplines.
